What we do with your data.

The short version: the only personal data Hachi holds about you is the email address you give us when you subscribe to the Monday Drop. We use it to send you the newsletter, nothing else. You can leave at any time, and when you do, your address is removed.

Who we are

Data controller.

Hachi is a tool operated by Matilha Collective, a small innovation consultancy based in Porto, Portugal. For anything in this notice — including requests to access or delete your data — the contact is jr@matilhacollective.com.

What we collect

Just your email.

When you subscribe to the Monday Drop, we store the email address you enter and the date you subscribed. That is the entirety of the personal data we collect from the public site. We do not ask for your name, we do not buy data about you, and we do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking on the public pages.

The prediction archive, the research briefs and everything else on the site are public and require no account to read.

Why we hold it

Purpose and lawful basis.

We use your email for one purpose: to send you the weekly Monday Drop and the welcome edition when you first sign up. The lawful basis under the GDPR is your consent, given when you submit the subscribe form. You can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it.

How it's handled

Storage and delivery.

Your address is stored in our own database and is used to send email over standard SMTP infrastructure. We do not sell, rent or share subscriber lists with anyone. The only third parties involved are the email-delivery and hosting providers we use to run the service, and only to the extent needed to actually deliver the newsletter.

How long

Retention.

We keep your email for as long as you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your address is removed from the active list. Every edition of the Monday Drop includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at hachi.market/unsubscribe.

Your rights

What you can ask for.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Because the only thing we hold is your subscription email, most of these come down to one action — unsubscribing — but if you'd like a formal confirmation or have any other request, email jr@matilhacollective.com and we'll handle it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority; in Portugal that is the CNPD.

Honesty is the whole point of Hachi — including about how we treat the one piece of data you trust us with.
